Growing up as an only child had its tradeoffs but one of the best things about being an only child during the holiday season was not that I got more presents. It was much more than that… it was the sense of wonder that my parents created for me. It was during the holidays that anything seemed possible, because the "magic" of the season became a reality for me!
At Dade Middle School it is my hope that we are entering into a similar season in the life of our school. It is my desire for us to come along side one another as parent and educator as we strive to give our children a sense of wonder, not just during the holiday season, but on an on-going basis.
In the coming weeks and months we will be setting some goals for our school. These will be goals for our facilities including a new cross country course that will allow us to host middle school events.
These goals will also be academic as we work to perform better than we did last year on our state standardized tests. One of the most important goals we will set and the one in which parents will have the most influence and impact will deal with attendance. Students cannot grow forward in their cognitive development when they are not at school or get checked out of school too often. These goals and others will be set and communicated to our students.
Would you participate with us in this process and support us positively on social media as we try to model for our children positive goal setting. And will you help us accomplish our goals by your presence at school functions and events?
As we enter this magical season my hope is for parents, teachers and administration at DMS to teach our children how to "wonder" and dream big. May we be a joy filled community this holiday season as we pursue this dream together.

- Would we help our students believe that anything is possible?
- If we did, what are the possibilities of their capacity to achieve?
